10 Things You Must Learn in Your 20s. Don’t Make The Same Mistakes I Did

I blew $50,000 on a Range Rover. I abused steroids. I was arrested three times. If I could take it all back now, I wouldn’t but don’t make the same mistakes I did.

1) Go to therapy

Damn do we drag our baggage through life if we don’t check it at the gate. It’s always amazing how much our early development childhood sets the stage for the rest of lives. You will replay the same bs patterns repeatedly if you don’t address it.

Go see a professional, before it’s too late and the chains of habits are too heavy to be broken.

2) Invest, don’t save

The adage of a “penny saved, is a penny earned” makes me lol and does not apply anymore. Bank interest rates are a joke and having your money sitting there does nothing.

Learn about investing and talk to people who have done it. Think real estate, stocks, crypto, index funds.

3) Get money

Nothing is more stressful than being broke. I’ve been there. You can’t think straight when you have debt pilling up and bill collectors call your phone. You’re in survival mode, good luck trying to think about your dreams and ambitions when you trying to figure out how you can afford the good toilet paper.

Get in a good financial position. You’re going to feel better with some dollars in your bank account.

4) Work out regularly

As a personal trainer for 10 years, I saw firsthand how insanely hard it is to get your body in shape when you start in your 30s and 40s. You’re pushing an elephant up a mountain, and it only gets harder as you age. Do something and do it now. If you don’t like typical gym culture, play recreational sports.

Exercise is NOT optional, especially in modern times. We sit on our ass far too much and it’s killing us.

5) Be in relationships but don’t get too attached

You don’t know yourself in your 20s. You’re trying to figure it out.

6) Read as much as you can

It’s not cool to be a dumbass. With the amount of knowledge we hold in our hand now, there are no excuses.

If you don’t like books, do audio. Read medium ; ). Again, there are no excuses.

7) Travel as far as you can

You’re young, able bodies, curious and open minded. See the world while you can because kids, life, career may creep up faster than you think and it may not be possible later on.

8) Hold on to friendships

It’s harder to make friends as you get older.

9) Learn how to cook

You’ll save money and be healthier. Plus who doesn’t like someone that can whip up dinner every night. It’s shocking how many people can’t or won’t cook. Like why??

10) Life gets harder than you ever imagined but it will become better than you ever dreamed

You’re in for ride. The things you stress and worry about now are molehills compared to the mountains in you’ll face in the future. But the best views come from the hardest climbs. Keep going and good luck.
