3 Reasons You MUST Have a Side Hustle in 2022

Books, towels, airbnb, keychains, fitness programs. I’ve done it all. As my friend put it, the king of the side hustle.

So in the article I’m speaking from my personal experience of being an entrepreneur and always working for myself. I’ve never really had a job since I graduated college in 2009.

I’ve always had one main business focus, whether it be personal training or cooking, and a few other little things that keep me interested and learning.

I just did it for fun and extra money.

But after sitting down and writing this article, it is my firm belief now more than ever, a side hustle is mandatory in 2022.

It’s your rocket launcher, your safety net, and your gasoline.

I’ll expalin why below.

  1. Extra Money

Probably the first reason people start one. Money money money.

The other morning at Starbucks (shut up don’t judge me), I ordered my usual venti cold-brew and the price shocked me a bit. It was 50 cents more than it was the day before.

Yeah we changed our prices last night, the barista told me.

Well damn I didn't get a raise last night so that’s a problem, I thought.

The cost of living is ridiculous and steadily going up. Meat prices, gas, housing. It’s all skyrocketing and the problem is most salaries and wages are NOT keeping up.

An extra $1,000–5,000 a month side hustle, which I think is doable for ANYONE regardless of who they are and where they start, is life changing.

It means you can pay for new tires on your truck. You can travel with your girlfriend. You save for a house (or better yet a multi family but I’ll get into that another time).

A side hustle is your rocket launcher. The sky is the limit with how much and how far you want to take it. I’ve heard of side hustles becoming mutli million dollar businesses. It’s possible. So start … and then take it to the moon.

2. Control

This week I read an article a CEO randomly fired 700 people via a Skype. Wow.

A side hustle gives you control. You eat what you kill. The market is your judge and your customers are your jury. It’s up to you to sell the service, product or idea, and it’s up to the world to believe and buy in.

That’s it.

No boss, no manager, no red tape, no bs.

When I got fired from my training job at a chain gym, I had $30k stacked from clients that signed up for my online training via Instagram. It didn’t phase me having to pack up my file in cardboard box and be escorted out of the building. I was smiling inside because I had my safety net already in my place. I had control.

Company shuts down? Boss fires you via email? All good bro. A side hustle is your safety net. You won’t fall to your death because now you have something to catch you.

3. Passion

You’ll hear this advice everywhere: FoLLoW YOuR PaSsIoN and you’ll never work a day in your life.

OK actually not bad advice, but not everyone can do that.

We need accountants, cashiers, and customer service rep.

Let your side hustle be your passion, and your job stay your job.

Pick a side hustle you’re passisonate about. You need that in you life. Passion is a key ingredient to a healthy, happy, and productive life.

There’s no reason to be bored in this life.

Pick a hobby. If you like art, paint on the side after work, and then market it via your Instagram and snapchat.

Think how inspired and filled up you’d be seeing your work in someone’s home, being enjoyed. That to me is amazing.

Doing something you’re passionate about is like throwing gasoline on you life. It lights you up.

So there you are. You must have a side hustle. I’ll write an article tomorrow about how to pick one. Until then, take this advice and make 2022 your bitch. Share it with a friend and both of you can kill it together as accountability partners.
