5 Ways To Make 2022 Your Bitch

We’re close to the end. A fresh start, a blank slate. We’re getting giddy at the thought of all the things we’re going to do different this time, as that clock strikes midnight. Read a book a month. Start that business. Lose that 20 pounds.

But New Years Resolutions have been proven not to work.

I’m sure you can speak from personal experience. By January 22nd, you’re back to the same ol’ you, doing the same ol’ bullshit. I do it too.

So on my walk today, I thought about the ways you can shake up the next 365 days.

Plan for 2022 now. Here are the 5 things to get the wheels turning.

  1. Commit

Yesterday, I talked about Platos’s allegory of the cave. How anything worthwhile, “the treasures”, takes an immense amount of focus, as you walk into the darkness to retrieve them.

It’s about tunnel vision, right? Shutting out the outside world for a bit and going IN.

This step is critical.

You need to claim your success, demand it of yourself, and make it imporant.

“I pledge a commitment to my success.”

Write it on your damn wall. Put it as your phone screensaver. Let that way of thinking slowly leak into your sub conscience. You will start to act differnet.

It all starts with refusing to quit. Do everything you can in claiming your success.

2. Expectations

It’s going to be harder and take longer than you think. I’m telling hou right now you’re under estimating the sheer difficulty of what’s ahead.

You’re going to war.

With yourself, with the world, with life.

Be prepared.

In the beginning, you will have to fight for the time, energy, focus and discipline to succed.

I talk about momemtum and consistency. Ride the wave and lower your expecations in the short term. It will never happen overnight. Success is a journey, just like anything, so don’t burn out in the first couple steps.

You should be asking: What can I do today that will bring you one inch closer than I was yesterday.

And if you’re not in it for the miles and miles this is going to take, just quit now and go back to daydreaming. Maybe 2023 will be your year when you read this post again and have to start over.

3. Systems

Goals Don’t Work.

I want to lose 10 pounds.

I want to earn $100,000 this year.

I want to meet the girl of my dreams.

These are great goals but instead, flip that on it’s head.

For example, what does a healty person do? How do they act?

Well they meal prep and exercise daily. So focus on that and let the chips fall where they may. You have much better chance of getting up every morning saying “today I’m going to exercse for 30 minutes. That’s it”.

You won the day. You can celebrate and full good every 24 hours.

Think like a healty, fit person, and you will get to where you want to be, guaranteed.

4. Suffering

It’s not about what you want, it’s about what you’re willing to give up. That’s what you need to look at.

If you want a girlfriend, taking girls on dates takes a lot of time, so you wont be putting in 80 hour work weeks.

If you want to make a million dollars, you’re not staying out at the bar until 3 am.

You can’t have it all so what are you willing to give up?

You must to endure the pain of today, to enjoy the fun of tomorrow.

To get the body, you have to give up dessert. Nothing good comes without sacrifices.

5. Enjoy

I hope I didn’t scare you away but I want to be realistic here. Enjoy the ride. All of it. Take the failures as lessons, and the win are clues you’re on the right path. It’s a roller coaster it’s the best ride with the best view so hold on.

Success is simple. Are you committed? Are you realistic? Do you have a plan? Are you ready for the pain? If yes, good luck. It’s hard, but it’s worth it.

**This is a note to myself as much as it is to anyone whose read down this far. Save it and refer back. Send it to a friend and have an accountability buddy. Make this your year. All the good things in life take the above formula.
