How I Got My First 100 Followers in Less Than a Month
I know, another one of these, but this might be the quickest and simplest way to do it.
These types of articles are everywhere, but my style is always simple and straightforward. If you’re an inspiring writer, and you’ve followed me for the past 30 days, take these tips.
RNWED
It’s the best acronym I could come up with:
Read
Notes
Write
Every
Day
First thing I’d do every day, is read 3 to 5 articles to see what’s getting attention. Good writers are better readers.
What titles are catching my eye?
I’d look at comments, highlights, claps, formatting, and structure. This helps you get a pulse on what people are responding and paying attention too.
Look at popular articles to see what’s working, look at unpopular ones to see what’s not.
This process helps jog my own ideas, as most of what I write about is inspired by a line that caught my eye in another article, or a title that I can talk more about myself.
Next, I’d take notes on my phone app. I keep this practice on throughout the day. Something I overheard at the gas station, an idea for an article, research points I want to look into. Anytime something came to me, whether at the grocery store or gym, I’d jot it down.
Then I write. Every morning with a cup of coffee by my side, I’d take thirty minutes to post. Keep your articles short in the beginning, as readers don’t know you yet and its hard from them to give up 8 minutes to a stranger. You got to earn their trust slowly. Plus bite sized articles keeps you motivated. 300–400 words is a piece of cake. 2000 words feels like you’re about to climb a mountain. And there’s more chances for you to lose them as everyone’s work sucks in the beginning.
That’s it. Daily postings for the first month.
Read, Take Notes, and Write. See what happens.
I didn’t follow for follow other authors. I didn’t cut and paste a generic comment on 10 articles. If I read something I liked, I’d comment but it wasn’t part of my routine. I did the work, every day and if I missed a day of posting, I’d double up on the next. The point is to stay on the path, no matter what. The best thing you can do is not give up.
