Make Every Day Your Best Day With This Routine

We all have the same 24 hours in a day, but how is it that some people can superhumanly stretch time to get more done than anyone else?

Answer: They start on the right foot.

The first hour you’re awake sets the tone for the entire rest of the day.

You can do all that jazz that’s standard in personal development like putting your phone on silent for thirty minutes, mediating, and journaling every morning but that seems like a lot of nonsense and a whole lot of time.

So hopefully with the five easy ways I share below, you’ll lay your head at night and say to yourself “Today was a good day.” All without that much time or effort.

List it out

Feel like you have 1,000 things to do, with no time to do any of them?

Yeah, me too.

Pick the 5 that require immediate attention. Don’t put audacious goals like “build website”, instead put the smaller steps that lead up to the bigger picture, like “research hosting site”.

But it’s not enough to think about it. You need to write it down as a list.

The physical act of writing puts it out there, into the world. And in a time where everything is on a screen and we stay in our heads far too much, a list staring back at you is very real and very important.

Do something physical

I was a personal trainer for ten years so does this come as a surprise? You’ll think better, clearer and have more energy when you’re active.

Go for a midday walk to clear your head. Hit heavy deadlifts for an energy boost.

It doesn’t have to be intense, just make time to move. The endorphins alone will make you have a better day than if you did nothing but sat on your ass.

Pick up the phone

It’s easy to get caught up in what we’re doing and forget about everything else.

Do not neglect relationships.

Men especially have a unique ability to get tunnel vision when their eyes are on the prize. I’ve let my world fall apart around me for the sake of my business. The house will be on fire but what matters is getting off this email.

It’s not good. Call a friend. Notice I said call. They probably won’t answer anyway but leave a voicemail.

The journey is not fun to go alone. Keep your people with you and check on them.

Reward yourself

You need something to dangle infront of you. Whiskey, Yellowstone, a cigar.

We like treats.

Pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Relax, chill, and get some sleep. You only goal is to be a little better tomorrow. Follow these suggestions and you’ll be amazed at the progress in six months. Everything will be different. Stay the course and it will pay off in the end.

Don’t listen to people on the internet, including me. I can’t tell you how to live, I can only tell you what’s worked for me, through my own personal experience.
