Falling short?

Often times we think our current situation are because of unfavorable circumstances, the wrong strategy, or bad timing. And that may be the case, but that’s out of your control.

So what can you control?

How you THINK. Get your mind right, baby.

Success starts with that 3 pound crescent shaped mush your ears.

Your brain is responsible for everything in this world.

Rocketships, cocaine, nail polish, boob jobs, whiskey.

Whatever you see in-front of you right now is because a synapse fired, caused a thought, and the mind made it happen.

That’s crazy to think about it.

So in this short post, I’m going to give you three strategies as to what you can do to train, grow, and protect your mindset so that you can become successful. And if you picture a guy in a fitted suit driving a black Mercedes when you hear that word, then you got the wrong definition. I’m talking sucess in the ability to go after your dreams, and remain optimism and hopeful throughout it all.

Environment

You mimic what you’re around. There’s the cliche saying you’re the average of the 5 people you surround yourself with. It’s true.

If you hang around people that do great things, you’ll follow suit. Positive people will switch on gears you didn’t know you had.

You’ll start to believe.

Look to your right and left. Who are you with most of the time?

Reach out, network, and surround yourself with those that are successful. Want to get in shape? Join a gym and link up with fit people. Want to advance your career? Hang out with your higher ups. Do you want to make more money? Hang out with millionaires.

It’ll start to rub off.

Your brian is a sponge, sucking up information. Be around good people and watch what happens.

Brainwash

Mental health is a hot topic. Thankfully going to therapy is as common as apple pie. We are, as a culture, are trying to address and heal our trauma and past.

And because of our past, we can end up with a distorted self image and become our own worst enemy.

You are the one holding yourself back. It can be self sabotage because you don’t think you deserve it, but you’ll repeat these cycles of failure.

Brainwashing yourself to believe in you is often the first step. I use that term tongue and cheek but much like environment, what you expose yourself too will bend and shape your perspective.

Working with a therapist or coach will help you see things from a different view.

Who and what you listen to will have a tremendous effect on how you think. The podcasts, books, music, and videos you consume daily all has effect on how you think. Fill yourself with right media.

If you’re listening to negative, fear inducing, or low energy nonsense, you’re going to start to think that way. Garbage in, garage out.

Workouts

Yeah the gym is great and all but don’t forget about working out the most important muscle of them all.

If the mind is the engine, like a race car, you want to keep it finely tuned.

Creative projects, exposing yourself to uncomfortable situations, and mind game are all ways of “working out your brain”.

I don’t care of its doing sudoku or learning how to paint. Do something to keep the mind strong and flexible.

Like I said in the beginning, what the mind can accomplish is truly incredible. It’s the best gift we have. Einstein used his brain to describe gravity! The difference between you and him is how he thought.

Think different and think better.

In summary, these three simple concepts will help you go into your next project with the right tools.

The next time you run into a roadblock ask yourself: Who are you with? How do you think? and is your mind strong? You might be surprised at the answer.
