The Top 10 Best Side Hustles for 2022
As promised, the follow up to yesterdays article. Now that you're bought in and believe in the power of the side hustle, what do you next?
Step into my office.
But first, when choosing a side hustle, there are two boxes you must check:
- Do you enjoy it?
Make no mistake, work is work, and a side hustle is hard. Especially in the beginning, when you're putting in a lot of time and sweat and you’re not seeing anything in return.
But if you enjoy it, you’ll spend more time on it, and if you spend time on it, you’ll get good, and if you get good, you’ll be well paid. It will happen for you. It’s a law of the universe.
2. Is it too late or too hard?
When people think of ways to kill it on the internet they think: YouTube star, NFT flipper, cyrpto trader, onlyfans “model”, Instagram influrencer. These are hot and trendy right now. You read the headlines and see the memes.
The 17 year kid who makes 3 million a year doing prank vidoes.
The onlyfans girl who rakes in $30k a month.
Good for them. Enjoy. But those take years to build an audience, hours a day to shoot content, and every is trying to jump in so its highly competitive. It’s not worth it. That ship has sailed.
The hustles I’m putting you on are plug and play. They already have the customers, the software, and the advertising budget to keep you busy. All you do is sign up, drop in, and go.
1. Fiverr.com
If you have ANY type of skill online, you can post it here and find work.
I’ve perosnally used it to hire an editor and formatter for my book. But the possiblies are endless. You can design websites, write speeches, edit podcasts, make videos, do cooking demos.
This is the mecca for freelance work. I should just stop the article here because
2. TaskRabbit.com
If technology isn't your thing and you like working with your hands and breaking a sweat, go here.
Moving, furniture assembly, repairs.
I first used this to help with odd jobs like replacing old bathroom tile and hanging a bunch of picture frames.
3. Teachable.com
If you have a skill and like teaching people, go here.
Example: If you play chess, are a personal trainer (I’ve personally done it), have a green thumb, or paint, this is a great opportunity for you to help others learn your skills.
It does require more set up time to organize your ideas, produce the content, but it’s scalable in that you do it once and you get paid forever.
4. Etsy.com
If you’re creative and have a craft, sell your work here.
Basically the online Brooklyn boutique shop, you can sell anything from cutting boards, to furniture to pillows to soap.
I’d recommend this if you already have a craft and want to reach a big audience.
5. Flipping
This is the modern treasure hunting.
Go weekend garage sales and hit up discount stores like Marshalls and TJ Max, and post it online via Ebay, FB marketplace, & Amazon.
You have to know what to look for but it can be very profitable.
6. Wag.com
Do you love dogs and exercise, try this.
You can walk, train, or dogsit. Popular in big cities, where people work a lot, although it may be different now with more working from home.
I’ve seen people walking the streets and in the park with like 8 dogs. Pretty crazy.
7. Uber
Got a reliable car and like exploring the city? here.
I usually talk to my uber drivers and generally the feedback is pretty positive about their experience.
They set their own schedule, make anywhere from $20–25 an hour, and for the most part there are no problems with riders. However, they do all agree that weekends nights are the most rowdy. Other then that, it seems like a good option.
8. Moviestar
Good on camera? Here.
This is a new one. I got paid $100 last week to shoot a promo video for a fitness app. This week I’m doing one for a men’s body wash for $200.
You have to be comfortable on video, which is a skill, but there are thousands of jobs posted everyday mostly in NYC and LA, but you can find companies allowing you to shoot from home using a camera phone. Beyond the model work, you can also find big movie jobs that are full week and month productions. Whatever you want.
9. Care.com
Like kids and organization? Here.
Daycare, pet care, housekeeping, personal assistant.
I’ve never done it personally but I know people who have. One woman I know now has a full-time nanny job with a family and travels with them all over the world.
10. Airbnb experience host
Are you adventurous, try this.
Cooking classes, history lessons, city tours, scuba diving, goat hiking.
You can offer a one of kind experience to travelers. Very popular with those wanting an authentic and unique. Also available online.
Bonus: Professional cuddler
I’m not joking. Check it out.
