You Should STFU If You Have a Goal
If you want to do something great, tell no one.
The biggest red flag I saw as a personal trainer: when a new client announced on social media they now had a trainer and tagged their first workout, telling everyone how excited they were.
When I witnessed this behavior, I knew I only had a few months with them before they burned out and quit. They had their eyes on the wrong prize.
Announcing a big goal to the world is disaster for human motivation.
Good job Mark!
You got this Sarah!
It feels good to get that acknowledgment and praise, but you haven’t done anything expect type a few words.
Most people quit most things.
So, when the going gets tough and reality sets in as you begin to walk the long, hard road that is success, those initial pops of endorphins and feel-good wear off quickly. You lose your juice. The pain, frustration, and sacrifices needed for real winning are just too much of a cross to bear.
“Ah screw it.”
Social Media has caused many problems, one being a short cut to validation. You got a nibble of the carrot.
It’s natural to want share our life with others, especially these days where I know what you ate for breakfast, but the real way to make things happen is to put your head down and quietly get to work.
Show us, don’t tell us.
